Biography

California artist, Irving Marcus, is well known for his use of vivid color combined with a playful, expressionist interpretation of his subject matter. Many of his works appear as "snapshots" from stories in progress and, as such, invite the viewer to fill in details and make a personal interpretation of the "captured moment."

Irving Marcus received his MFA from the University of Iowa in 1952. His work has been exhibited nationally in major museums and galleries, including the San Francisco Art Institute, Oakland Art Museum, Butler Institute of American Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York City. He is represented by Sam Parker Gallery in Los Angeles (www.parkergallery.com).
